Really?

It was so easy to add the vinyl lettering to my wall! I admit that I took the easy road and bought one that was already prepared from DCWV. But the hardest part was making sure it was level and even - yeah... I eye-balled it... - (-:

I would like to try creating one with my cricut just so that I could choose the size and font. I should be checking other blogs to see how others have created lettering using their cricut. Anyone have any links or pictures???

With the help of a good friend I have been de-cluttering my house. Apparently the 'things' everywhere drives my husband nuts... Who knew! In the process we have also been hanging art and decorating, which is where the vinyl lettering came in.

Cranberry sauce

I am making homemade cranberry sauce again this year. Unfortunately I ran out of brown sugar which is what I usually use to sweeten the cranberries. I think brown sugar packs more sweetness and you can use less So this year I had some extra apple butter from our trip to mercier orchards in north ga.

Here is my recipe:
two tbs. of the apple butter
2/3 c of sugar (white)
1 cup of orange juice
1/2 cup of cranberry juice
Zest of a whole tangerine
Juice of a whole tangerine
1 bag of fresh cranberries

I am anxious to see how it turns out!

Christmas gifts....

So I will blow my surprise and walk you through my Christmas ideas. I found this stuff- Magic Gloss- at hobby lobby.

The handout inspired me to create (aka spend money). :)

So far I have made some hair pins and I started this pendant for my sister.

I am loving it... Except for the air bubbles... I have to figure out how to get those out!

A vintingy pendent...

I got a pretty big bubble in that one. :(.

For materials I have been using a mixture of stuff, mostly scrapbook stuff, but I have thrown in some charms and other things I found in the jewelry section. I got some charms and clipped the rings off the top so that they will fit inside most of the pendants and rings.

Here is a pic of my materials...

Overall this magic gloss has been really easy to use and I am pretty happy with the results. I am really enjoying the handmaking and personalization options. It might not be everyone's favorite present 'ever' ... But I think it will be meaningful.

Dirt pie... Yummy!

Grace had a friend over, to entertain them we made dirt pie. She got these cute bone sprinkles from hobby lobby a few weeks ago and has been dying to use them on something. I had the kids separate the cookie from the cream in the middle and then used the Oreo middles as a layer in the pie. I sure wish we had some worms though, they would have been cute!

My projects

I found the most adorable fabric at Hobby Lobby. It's not adorable in the traditional way, but reminds me of the Lizzie Borden rhyme instead an is a bit on the darker side. Since it was so 'dark' I tried to lighten it up with some pink ruffles. This is only my second sewing project and I think it turned out pretty well. I definitely need to figure out a better way to do pockets though!

Another view...

The lighting isn't the greatest but this was the only picture I took of the finished product!
My dd decided she wanted a dress... Oh boy! It took me a while to sit down and muddle through it but I think it turned out pretty well considering it was my first dress. Next time I will make the pillowcase dress from icansewthat.com. It would have been really cute with ribbon instead of a neckline and kinda sleeves.
