classroom management series # 3

Tonight will be a post in pictures... :)

I have talked a lot about positive praise in my classroom. I wanted to share some ideas I've picked up along the way to reward children - or to keep in touch with my parents. The following were made on Vista Print using their free deals and only shipping was paid. Here is a picture of my storage bin....

This bin is 5 business card boxes deep...
When I had a big room - these were all in a hanging shoe organizer... Now they are in a bin...

On to the pictures...

I hope to pass along some ideas... and some things that made my day-to-day in the classroom a little easier. If you have ideas of other cards or positive ways to recognize students - leave a comment! :)

My behavior board

I am pretty happy with the behavior system I have in place this year. I found it on pinterest, but tweaked it a little to fit it into my room. I ordered solid color car door magnets from vistaprint, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. On each I put a 'cowboy' saying (walk the chalk... A hoot and a holler from the office, yeehaw....)
What I like best is the ability to move the children up or down the board. I made each child a magnet with their number on it (like the lunch board) and they move that up and down.
I have done a similar behavior board in the past with rainbows, and the positive praise is such a strong motivator for my children. I notice that I thank them a lot more for their good behavior and they act better. I guess a positive attitude can go a long way! :)

I also started using classdojo.com but it's been down for a while, probably too much traffic...it was a pretty awesome site! I can't wait until it is working again b/c they have an iPhone app! So you can even control your behavior system while you are out of the room!

I will add a picture of both my board and classdojo later...

Brainstorming...

So, as you can tell I LOVE vistaprint. I have so many creations that I wasn't able to find what I needed when the idea of a shoe holder hit me! I knew it would work for some of the stuff- but it worked for all of my creations except the oversized postcards! Yahoo! Now its all in one place! I am so excited that I am having a hard time typing! Only bad thing... I RAN OUT OF SPACE! back to walmart to buy another! :)
Testing it out...

Finished product...

And...

Yeehaw! I am SUPER excited about this idea!

More Vistaprint Creations

Here are some of the things I have made using the small car door magnet...
I love these magnets because they don't take up a whole lot of space, but are easily used to section off my dry erase board. Plus I can move them whenever I need to!

I thought this up years ago and saw that someone had marketed it in lakeshore! Man I wish it had been me! :)
I made business cards that match. Each child receives a business card when the desk fairy visits. Once they have collected 10 cards they have earned a free trip to my classroom treasure box. (baseball pages or business card holders are put into their binders)

This is attached to my cookie sheet for calendar math. We count the daily money on this 'money magnet'.

I recently started making some of the small banners. I have not received them yet, but here are pictures of what I have created...

I can't wait for these to come in the mail! I think I'm going to use the keys as my theme this year in my transfer to second grade. Now I need a banner with a big lock and key! I guess I will have to wait until uploads are discounted to make that one though!

Vistaprint creations

Here are some things I have made using the flat invitations from vistaprint... Most of these were completely free, but those with the colored back-sides were $3 extra.
