Five For Friday

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching today for their weekly 5 for Friday linky.

Here are 5 random things from my week......

#100HappyDays Photo Challenge... Are you in? I tend to be a negative Nancy sometimes (I wonder how many people named Nancy get upset by that term?) I'm only on day 2 - but this is at the top of my list! :)

My bracelet from Farmgirl Paints arrived the other day... and I LOVE it.
My personalization:
Philippians 4:8
g1  g2
(both my littles have names that start with g)

My kiddos are OBSESSED with minecraft. Crazy I tell ya....
We had a little crafty afternoon and what did they make?
Yep - minecraft stuff. OY VAY.

I've stated many times in my blog that I am a supreme dork... Here is some evidence for you just in case you don't believe me...
I take notes in class (high school bio and 7th grade life science)
AND THEN
I go home and recopy them. I have done this forever. It really helps me remember things, and there is something about the quiet time of just putting words on paper...

 LAST -
I saw this infographic on Pinterest from The Busy Teacher
I definitely thought it was 'share worthy'

{especially with 45 days left in my school year and that lovely summer break coming up.... go ahead ... tell me ONE MORE TIME how lucky I am to have summers off....} ;)

Happy Pi Day Peeps! :)

Currently…January?

I'm linking up with Farley for her monthly Currently linky…  I am usually obsessed with a new year … because that means a new planner… but I am always surprised at how quickly the years change!

Most of my currently's are pretty self-explainatory - BUT - I have seriously been thinking about combining my Smash books/Project Life/and Erin Condren planner into one THING.
I am not sure exactly how I am going to do it yet - or if it will even work…
here are links to a few pinterest boards that I have been eyeballing… let me know what you think…

AND - I have been playing around with creating my own teacher planner since August… and I think I have one that is ready for some feedback - if you'd like to test it out or look it over and give me some suggestions - leave some comment love below! :)

Favorite Pins Friday!

I'm linking up with Cara today over at First Grade Parade for a Favorite Pins Friday...
(Doodlebugs is taking a well deserved break!)

First -
This is a church in Barcelona, Spain. Construction started in 1882 and has continued on and off. They don't expect to be finished with this church until 2026.
This is on my - i wish i could go...there - pinterest board. :)
If you click on the picture it will take you to the photographer's website. He has many other amazing photographs.

This meme is from Red, White, & Grew - she has a bunch of Ryan Gosling meme's on this link. These things crack me up every time.
Even funnier.... Watching him read some of them...

I've pinned a ridiculous amount of things this week.... so much good stuff out there! :)

How cool is this one...
It's a Polaroid camera that has the Instagram icon! {I'm such a dork...}

My style icon...

Can't afford the photograph, but I can pin it and look at it anytime I want! :)
That is from my oldies but goodies board... I have a lot of vintage stuff that I should probably combine onto one board - but I just got my boards alphabetized.... so .... that can wait! :)

Here's a little light that I would {puffy heart} to have in my classroom reading area or in my kids' rooms...
Your very own rainbow! (from my back to school pinboard... can't believe I go back in 15 days!)

Last one...
Fridge magnets... with maps!
I'm not getting married anytime soon (or ever again)
but these are just plain cute.
That is from my she's crafty.... board. :)
Yes - I love the beastie boys...

I hope you have enjoyed my random pins from this week - I'd love for you to follow my pinboards or my blog! Please check out the other blogs that are linked up - I found a great idea for little man's birthday party from the wild rumpus! {think minecraft...}

plop, plop, fizz, fizz...

How many of us are old enough to remember what commercial my post title came from?
Not sure WHY that is in my head at 7 a.m.
I'm home with a sick baby... again...
poor little man has been running a temperature {102+} which always makes me nervous.
I'm trying to wait patiently until the pediatricians office opens.

This year has been rough on my little family - we have been sick so much more than usual. I hate seeing my kids sick and I really don't like missing school and taking so many sick days. Flu shots, sanitizer, copious amounts of hand washing.... don't seem to be helping.

SO
Excuse this rant....
When did school become daycare?
Which doctor told parents that it's okay to send kids to school with a fever (a.k.a. contagious)?
Maybe I'm old school - but isn't the rule 24 hours, fever free?
At what point have we lost regard for others well-being?
Are we really so selfish that some think it's okay to send a PUKING child to school?
These poor children.
All I can think of - no one cares enough to take care of you -
surely that can't be it.
I know the economy is in SUPER bad shape. I know many people need jobs. I understand that being new to a job leaves you little to no sick time (I've been there!)
But these are our children.

<<<<< I found this on pinterest and thought I'd share...

My mind is heavy this morning my friends.
I'm off to watch some Disney channel, make chicken soup, and cuddle my little man.
A day full of Star Wars, Ninjago, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...
{I'm SO excited...}
One day at a time.... woooo-sahhhh

If you remember the commercial my title came from - leave me a comment! And don't forget to enter my giveaway!
Have a great day peeps!

pinterest inspired....behavior board and lunch count

In the past I have blogged about my behavior board. I love this little thing, and I made it all myself!
Click on the picture below to take you to the original post

Here's how I did it...

I was inspired to create this from pinterest - what did I do before pinterest???
I used numbers to give my kids a little anonymity - I knew their numbers, they knew their numbers, but someone walking in... wouldn't know what color they were on.
I grabbed everything from my local craft store - EXCEPT the sun and moon craft glue. I found this on etsy. (they also have glass tiles, but I like to use the cheap glass bubbles from the aquarium section or floral design area of the craft store.
I tried to take pictures as I went along this time... :)

If you'd like to try to make some on your own - it takes some practice... but it was worth it. I picked a cute frame and font to make my first set. I printed them out on my laser printer and went through these same steps.

Here is another picture of my lunch board... I used my smart board every morning for morning work - so I had to find another way to do my lunch count.

These were just some cute extras I made to use on my metal desk... (You can see that a few of them I used a little too much craft glue on - and I did these on my inkjet printer... they look a little smudged...) Some of them turned out better than others, I would suggest that if you are using an inkjet printer, go easy on the craft glue. ;)

Suggestion - if you are using an inkjet printer... Sun and Moon also carries Micro Glaze. Put a little of this on your printed image before you adhere it to the glass! :)

pinterest...

I'm so addicted to pinterest... I even found myself talking with a parent about it during a conference. Geeze! But I get so many wonderful teacher ideas from that place & it has encouraged me to blog and put more stuff in my tpt store. It seems like all these blogging/crafty/teacher types have a tpt or a teachers notebook now and some of the stuff they make is AMAZING! I just started following Hope King, she has some wonderful center activities that I can use with my second graders - she included two forms in all the centers so you can make them more or less challenging! I wish I had time to sit and create such cute stuff for my kiddos - but for now they will be forced to use others' things that I find or recreate. Nighty-night - I'm beat!

Oh - follow me on pinterest - or let me follow you! :)

My own marquee...

Hehe! I have seen so many teachers using the light ropes on bulletin boards and such. I have been dying to try this but didn't want to spend $20 on a light rope! I know a ton of people probzbly do what I have pictured, but I'm so excited that I finally got it done! And the best part... It was only $6! Check it out...

I hate having a teacher desk, but this year it has come in very handy... It part of my positive behavior incentive chart(: Those students who are SO amazingly good during the day get to go off the chart - in a good way. One of the rewards for their great behavior is to sit at my desk! So... It's now booked through the next two weeks! Wow! Oh, the other choice is a homework pass...

It is also nice to have one LARGE magnetic surface! Right now my essential questions are posted with my marquee lights... But I might change it out and put a word work center there. (:

Being crafty... Thanks to pinterest...

Oy vay. I am ADDICTED to pinterest! Such an amazing place for teachers, or anyone crafty! I had the idea to make magnets... Then on pinterest-someone made numbered magnets using marbles... And then my brain took off... So these are just a few of the things I have made into magnets.

And - oh wait... More....

And I'm done...

But I have some really cute little ones too. Take a look-

Hehee i think these paper ones are my favorite so far. Now I just need to find smaller magnets!

If you just can't live without them- go to my etsy: graceful designs 11

Or make some for yourself! Use a bag of glass gems (fake flower section of crafty store) and some craft glue... My fav- sun and moon glass glaze. (etsy: sun and moon)

Oh- more!

Yay for pinterest! AND people who blog and share their ideas!
