home with a sick one...again...

So - I've been home with my little man today. :( It is rare that he is ever sick and even more rare for him to complain... but he's been doing both. yay me...

While he was sleeping/resting/getting caught up on Transformers - I had a little time on my hands. 

A friend and I were discussing a blogging calendar - there are many out there, but like any true dork - I wanted to make my own. 

So I did. 

And I liked it so much, I thought it would be nice to share {I mean it is getting close to Christmas and all - I better start being nice!} hahaha!

I have been working on my blog ....

So I found this really great tutorial at the teacher wife's other blog - 

I was so excited to find out that I could create things in powerpoint and save them as a .png - I'm  somewhat confident in my powerpoint skills, now... :) 

So I tried, and I was super happy with my result. Until - I added it to my page, and my button hung off the sides. So, I tried again... with no luck. I gave up last night, but I'm back at it today. 

Here is what I've figured out...

I had to change the page size! It had to be smaller than the tutorial stated, in order to fit on MY page - it might be different for you all - but - if you can't get it to work - try this!

Anyway - I'm super excited about my new bloggy button (yes, I'm a dork...)

I'm confused...

So - my background has been changing quite a bit this last week or so. I can't seem to find anything that I like, or that fits, or that a million people don't already have. I think I'm going to make it basic for now until I can find something that I like AND figure out how to get the HTML code to work properly.

Then again, you never know...maybe this is just a test to see how many people are paying attention... ;D

Makeover

My blog got a makeover! Special thanks to leelou blogs for the awesome (and free) blog templates! I wish it was this easy to make over my house! :D What am I most excited about??? My super cute favicon! {I must admit: I had NO IDEA what a favicon was until I downloaded the template} BUT it is now one of my favorite things on my page! Yep - it's the little things that keep me happy! hehe.

It has been one yucky, overcast day here. The sky has been threatening rain all day, but so far I've only see a few drops. I have kept the kids inside all day and they are about to run a muck. I haven't been in my classroom all week and I feel so ... ... unprepared??? BUT- my books came in from Amazon and I am super pumped. I need to go and pick up some of the MTH: Thanksgiving on Thursday books. That will be my next literature circle for my high reading group. So keep checking tpt for that unit! Any other books that you like to use in your classroom during this time of the year? Any awesome Native American activities? I've been searching pinterest, without much luck.
